Here I Am
Words & Music by Jan Garrett & Sue Riley, ©2013
Sages named the stars they saw, they didn’t really know
The light that danced across the sky came from long ago
There are undiscovered galaxies drifting in the night
Self-contained and brilliant, out of sight
Wonder upon wonder, worlds I’ve never seen
All the while they’re looking back at me
Constant, as the northern star
Since time began, that’s who we are
Star-struck lovers who’ve never met
Here I am, you just haven’t found me yet
Forget me nots of angels, messengers in space
If I connect the points of light would I see your face?
Constellations, shooting stars,
how I wonder where you are?
Across the distance, tugging at my heart
I wish I may, I wish I might, find
the love that’s mine tonight
Of all these stars
will you discover me?
Constant, as the northern star
Since time began, that’s who we are
Star-struck lovers who’ve never met
Here I am, you just haven’t found me yet
Instrumental solo
Music of the heavens, a stardust melody
Shining out for everyone to see
Constant, as the northern star
Since time began, that’s who we are
A new day dawning, I’m on my way
Look for me, maybe we’ll meet today
Learn How to Fly
Words and Music by Sue Riley, Melinda Wood Allen, Sloan Wainwright
Standing at the edge of
the life I know
Afraid to step forward, can’t see what’s below
I’m come so far to the top of this hill
Don’t wanna go backward; I refuse to stand still
Faith is knowing, I’ve gotta keep going
When life isn’t flowing and I don’t know why
Wanna keep growing, can’t just
sit here and cry
Taking the leap, I’m gonna learn how to fly
Thought life was a lesson-- like being in school
And, I would be safe if I played by the rules
In the Blink of an eye, the whole world can change
‘Til nothin’s familiar—no sure thing remains
Faith is knowing,
I’ve gotta keep going
When life isn’t flowing and I don’t know why
Wanna keep growing, can’t just
sit here and cry
Taking the leap, I’m gonna learn how to fly
I’m through playing small, I want so much more
No fear at all, I’m ready to soar
Faith is knowing,
I’ve gotta keep going
When life isn’t flowing and I don’t know why
Wanna keep growing, can’t just
sit here and cry
Taking the leap, I’m gonna learn how to fly
Let the Magic In!
Words and Music by Sue Riley and JD Martin
I knew I was right, I'd seen it all before
I’d closed my mind, couldn’t even find the next open door
All those dreams that had died, were just blocking the light
When I opened my eyes, then suddenly I could
Let the magic in, finally found it again.
I wasn't sure where to start,
Until I opened my heart and let the magic in
When I needed a hand, I found so many friends
They were there all the time, in my
life, but I was just blind to them
Now my dreams are alive,
I’ve found my passion again
I love to get up and go, 'cause now I know,
To let the magic in, finally found it again.
I wasn't sure where to start,
Until I opened my heart and let the magic in
Now when I lose my way along the path
There's a trail of stars to guide me back
Let the magic in, finally found it again.
I wasn't sure where to start,
Until I opened my heart and let the magic in
So glad I opened my he
art and let the magic in
Living in My Heartland
Words and Music by Sue Riley and Claudia Carawan
I used to dream big city dreams, I had to let them go
That city crowd, busy and loud, left me with an aching soul
I'm gonna make a new start, lead with my heart,
I've never felt so sure
I'm gonna follow where I'm called
It may not be the easy road,
'cause I finally found my home
Living in my heartland
Living in my heartland
When I let go of all I know
sometimes I feel afraid
But, now I like the quiet pace, I find I love the peaceful space
It's now what I call home
I'm gonna make a new start, lead with my heart,
I've never felt so sure
I'm gonna follow where I'm called
It may not be the easy road,
'cause I finally found my home
Living in my heartland Living in my heartland
Sometimes the road less traveled
feels like a new frontier
But, when I'm true to who I am
the path is free and clear
I'm gonna follow where I'm called
It may not be the easy road,
'cause I finally found my home
Living in my heartland

Love, For All We're Worth
Words and Music by Tom Kimmel and Sue Riley
A thousand stars across the sky
Unveil the universe
Then vanish in the morning light
That slips around the world
Yet you & I know they're up there
The way you know somebody dares
To love you all the ways you most deserve
That's love for all we’re worth
And faith the heart comes first
And when we learn to let it in
It's heaven here on earth
This love for all we’re worth
I catch your eyes across the room
And see the light in mine
Where past and future start and end
This very moment shines
A fire in the winter cold
We treasure more than any gold
And know what's ours to touch is still Divine
It's love for all we’re worth
And faith the heart comes first
And when we learn to let it in
It's heaven here on earth
This love for all we’re worth
What starts and ends begins anew
It's everything, it's me and you
It drifts away and comes around to stay
Love for all we're worth
And faith the heart comes first
And when we learn to let it in
It's heaven here on earth
This love for all we’re worth
My Heart’s Desire
JD Martin and Sue Riley May 2013
I've got the weight of the world tugging on my sleeve
But there's something mo
re precious, calling me
Those things I never seem
to have the time to do
Places to go, people to see
My hearts desire,
It’s been here all the time
Oh my hearts desire
Never too late to find
My hearts desire
Clearing out the clutter that’s making me drown
All those excuses that I keep around
Living the dream that was always mine
Movin' up to solid ground
My hearts desire,
It’s been here all the time
Oh my hearts desire
Never too late to find
My hearts desire
When I'm afraid I'll know that I'm close
To everything I want the most
My hearts desire,
It’s been here all the time
Oh my hearts desire
Never too late to find
My hearts desire
Step Back, Slow Down
Words and Music by Sue Riley, Richard Mekdeci, and Freebo
Ain't no use in fighting time
There ain't no reason, there ain't no rhyme
Fighting time's like fighting air
You get real tired and you get nowhere
Flatout crazy, I'm about to crack
Pedal to the metal and I can't look back
Giddyup, hurry up, rushing around
Gaining distance but I’m losing ground
Step back, slow down,
Smell the roses and kiss the ground
Just breathe, don't sweat it
Just slow down and you won't regret it
I'm so caught up in all my stuff
No matter what I do, it's never enough
I wanna believe that I'm truly blessed
My cup runneth over and it's making a mess
An avalanche of paper got no time to read
A moment to myself would be a friend indeed
90 miles an hour but I’m standing still
If I don't do it nobody else will
Step back, slow down,
Smell the roses and kiss the ground
Just breathe, don't sweat it
Just slow down and you won't regret it
The time I wasted, I want it back
I wish there an app for that
It ain't gonna happen cause it just ain't so
Slow and steady is the way to go
Step back, slow down,
Smell the roses and kiss the ground
Just breathe, don't sweat it
Just slow down and you won't regret it
The Hallways of Galway
Words and Music by Sue Riley and Daniel Nahmod 2014
(Recited)
Going to Ireland to celebrate life
Small tour with music, good friends and a guide
Off to the airport to board the first flight
What could possibly go wrong?
Delayed by a storm, spent two hours on the tarmac
I’m next to a monster disguised as a child
Missed the next flight, spent the night in the airport
Deep yogic breathing and a pasted on smile
For three days I saw the most marvelous sights
Then I began having sharp pains in my side
Oh joy, my very first ambulance ride!
2 hours to the ER, sedation required
Now, I’m in a Charles Dickens movie
With people stacked up everywhere
And like the Hotel California
You can never get out of here
In the hallways of Galway I’m spending my time
No Irish sweaters, no chocolate, no wine
Not the vacation that I had in mind
In the hallways of Galway, I’m spending my time
The ER’s an anthill, it’s crawling with people
No beds to be had, spent 10 hours in the hall
At midnight it’s off to an eight person ward
Still on the gurney parked next to a wall
I laugh when I find that the ward’s named St Nicholas
My new bed has drapes which have musical themes
My doctors are gorgeous so it’s still Irish scenery
Awful food, cheery staff, no air conditioning
Each day I posted on Facebook
Humorous thoughts on my stay
After three days I quit laughing
I started to plan my escape
In the hallways of Galway I’m spending my time
Too hot for wool sweaters and I’m starting to whine
Not the vacation that I had in mind
In the hallways of Galway, I’m spending my time
I begged the cute Irish Doctor
Please release me, let me go
It’d be easier to break out of prison
He rolled his blue eyes and said “No”
On day five I notice the Doctor is off
I check myself out in the blink of an eye
My plane leaves tomorrow, I better be on it
Crawled to a cab and kissed Galway goodbye
In the hallways of Galway where I spent my time
No Irish coffee, no Guinness, no wine
Not the vacation that I had in mind
In the hallways of Galway I spent so much time
In the hallways of Galway where I spent my time
In the hallways of Galway, thank God I survived!
Next year’s vacation....Italy!
